Garbage Nintendo advertising on the telly

DS and Wii themed adverts are airing constantly in the UK, but the adverts are crap. Why? Because of terrible 'celebrity' endorsemed adverts is why.

That advert makes me wanna slap each of those Girls aloud chicks in the face with the top screen half of a DS lite. Notice how 'the ginger one' doesn't say anything through out the whole thing. They may as well kick her out the group. She's been nothing but the butt of jokes since they formed. But I digress. That shit was awful. I understand why Nintendo did this and how it could work. But I still hate them. Mainly because...
a) I can't stand the 'celebs' in the adverts
b) They're corny
c) The 'celebs' are fake and not believeable
d) There's not much of a context

I'm tired of the whole sat in front of a TV playing games together bullshit. It was tired 3 years ago and it's tired now. Why not have some better context. Like, the girls are late for a gig because they're sat in their dressing rooms playing Mario Kart DS. Or Cheryl Cole is on the set of X-Factor, and instead of judging a contestant, she's busy playing Mario Kart under the judges desk. Something interesting, fun and not so corny would salvage these commercial wrecks. The DS can sell itself regardless of how good or bad the adverts are, but the Wii adverts need a shake up. Watching Jamie Redknapp play Mario Kart with his pregnant failed pop star of a wife makes owning a Wii seem like the worst thing ever and not cool.

They took a game like Mario Kart Wii and made it look like some generic, casual bullshit in the space of 10 seconds. It's because of crap like this why people don't take Wii seriously as a gaming system, and why I'm losing love for it. Nintendo need to start trying to come with something new for the Wii. After 3 years, this same old, same old is officially tired. I'm replaying in my mind why exactly I stood in the freezing cold on launch day to buy a Wii in the first place.

Tell me about it. Eventhough I didn't get one when I stood in line, still standing in line for 6 hours just trying to get one was a stupid move looking back on it now.

To think, I was SO excited about getting a Wii and so sad when I couldn't get one at launch...and now I have it in it's box back home not knowing when I'll ever unpack it. :(

What gets me is that they're advertising games that have already sold millions. Mario Kart, Wii Fit - they sell themselves! They need to advertise games that haven't sold as well and that appeal to more than just the "casual gamers" (god I hate that term!).
