I hate Nintendo for giving this game such a God awful advert. What happened to the days when the UK got video game adverts that were conceptual and enthralled you into the world of the game!? I wish Nintendo would give us just one commercial where we didn't have a white living room with a sofa and somebody talking about the game who isn't even a representation of the core audience who will pick it up. It's bad enough that us UK gamers have to watch as Ant and Dec ruin and taint our love for Nintendo.
I understand why Nintendo go this route with their commercials - because those who are hardcore fans and want the game, will just buy it without the aid of a television ad. So why cater to them? But I think a better advert could have been done to entice both casual and hardcore gamers alike. It's not like its impossible to do.
I'm not itching to play New Super Mario bros. Wii. Users in a forum I had posted in thought I was crazy for having not played the game, or wanting to own it. Maybe I'm getting old. Or maybe the Nintendo charm is losing its effect on me. But New Super Mario bros. Wii looks like the same ol', same ol' that New Super Mario Bros. for the DS served up with a bit of multiplayer and playable Toads - and nothing about this entices me. It's a game I'm going to have to play first before I buy it.
